Beauty student giving a facial treatment to a clientThe Diploma of Beauty Therapy course offers students intensive training in the beauty, make-up & spa industry to give students the skills to work in their chosen area of these exciting and rapidly expanding industries.

During the course students will have the opportunity to work with customers in the beauty and spa environment, performing treatments under supervision and guidance from the trainers. Spa treatments are the latest trend in the beauty industry and is a rapidly expanding market, by training students in the latest spa treatments available AIBT is opening the door for a wide range of employment opportunities for it's students. Our students also participate in work placement during their study with us, which again offers students more valuable experience in the beauty & spa industry.

What makes AIBT's Diploma of Beauty Therapy unique is that student's will learn Microdermabrasion and Hot Stone Massage and Spray Tanning as part of the course at no extra cost! These treatments are in high demand in the industry and will give student's that extra edge that helps when applying for jobs in the industry.

It is also possible to complete our unique 'Advanced Makeup & Styling Course (Certificate III in Styling - Fashion, Image & Media)' at the same time as the Diploma of Beauty Therapy, enabling students to learn image consulting, personal styling, fashion makeup and editorial styling for the media. Students who complete both courses at the same time, will receive a significant discount off the combined price of both courses.

beauty therapyDuring the course students will participate in a Dermalogica workshop which will give students training in using the Dermalogica products, free product samples, subscription to the International Dermal Institute (IDI) website, an IDI voucher valued at $110 and a certificate of completion for the Dermalogica college program. Students will also have the opportunity to win awards such as the Dermalogica Retail Student of the Year and International Dermal Institute Student of the Year with prizes including product vouchers and an award certificate.

As a special offer for our first year of ITEC assessments, all Diploma of Beauty Therapy students enrolled to start in March 2010 will recieve one ITEC assessment for free.

AIBT courses are taught by trainers who have vast experience within the beauty and spa industry. This gives our students the ability to gain valuable insights from trainers with real industry experience and benefit from their experiences, knowledge and industry contacts.

Students will have the option to sit the ITEC international examiniations in beauty on completion of the course. As a special offer for our first year of ITEC assessments, all Diploma of Beauty Therapy students enrolled to start in March 2010 will recieve one ITEC assessment for free. Course Application

It is advised that applicants have successfully completed a minimum of Year 10 Maths and English.

To apply students should follow the steps listed below:
  1. Arrange an interview time by calling us on (07) 55 938 335.
  2. Attend a student interview and complete the short interview test. (For applicants outside the South East Queensland region who cannot attend an interview, please phone us to be sent an application test).
  3. Successful applicants will receive an acceptance letter along with enrolment form and student handbook in the mail.
  4. To enrol – return signed enrolment form with course deposit.

The course fees are for a position in the course and are payable whether the student completes the course or not. Upon enrolling in the course, the student is liable to the college for the course fees in full.

To secure a position in the course, students must pay a minimum course deposit of 10% of the discounted upfront course cost.

Additional Costs/Required Equipment:

  • Student ID Card: $25
  • Printing & photocoping by student.
  • Basic stationary – e.g. display folder’s, pens, pencil & rubber, highlighters.
  • 1 packet of colouring pencils.
  • Cressy’s Beauty Therapy Fact File textbook is of benefit to students.
  • Students will be required to pay for their graduation dinner for themselves and any guests. Students will be advised on the price in advance – allow $80 per person.

Eligible students may be able to apply to Centrelink for either Youth Allowance (for full-time students aged 16 to 24) or Austudy (for full-time students aged 25 years or over). For more information visit the Centrelink website.
